Rhal was joined by the top 3 placers in the 6th Casiano Sol Cruz Jr Memorial Cup; Ian, Joseph and Jefferson. This was part of the prize that was co-sponsored by Guia. However, Joseph backed out at the last hour dahil masakit daw ang headache niya.

The tournament was a 5-round played on standard time control of 1 hour and 30 minutes plus increment and played over 3 days.

And this is open to non-masters.

According to NCFP Director and GM Jayson Gonzales, tournament with standard time control is very good for the development of chess players.

With that note, I am inclined to make the coming Manuel M. Lopez Cup adopt a hour time control per player instead of the planned 25 minutes, for the HS Group at least.
