This Chess for Caritas is a joint project of MERALCO's Sports and Youth Advocacy Office headed by MERALCO Bolts Coach Ryan Gregorio.

National Masters Gerry Cabellon and Marlon Bernardino conducted the back-to-back simultaneous match against 20 participants in the presence of representatives from Caritas Manila headed by Choi.

The aim of the simul is to promote the Segunda Mana Program of Caritas Manila. This is a drive for donations in-kind where Caritas recycles the unused and even broken items and uses the proceeds to give educational assistance to the poorest of the poor.

And with just a few days, 3 boxes were filled with donations from the MERALCO employees!

With the success of the simul, we plan to do a sequel - Segunda Mana Cup where participants will be asked to donate in-kind in order to play. This will be sometime in April.
