The VCR Cup is a tribute to MERALCO Executive Victor C. Risma, Jr. who was one of the pioneers of chess in our company. It was supported by his fellow executive Helen de Guzman, CRS Outreach Committee headed by Rener Musngi, Customer Process Office headed by Cheri Torres, and many other friends of Mang Vic. The beneficiaries of the event are the handicapped chess players of Tahanan Walang Hagdanan and the RP Chess Paralympics Team who received P1,000 worth of gift checks each.
Playing the simul are National Masters Gerry Cabellon, Andrew VAsquez and Marlon Bernardino.
