I met Nanie of the RP PARA Team last Friday at our VCR Cup in MERALCO and they are interested to play on July 11. This will be a 4-team fund-raising tournament for the Para Team. The participating teams are:
Team 1 - RP PARA Team
Team 2 - BW
Team 3 - MERALCO
Team 4 - LSGH
We will be charging an entry fee for each team, except the Para. And the amount raised will be donated for their training and personal expenses.
I am proposing a 6-board play on 30-30 time control and the entry fee is P2,000 per team.
I have talked with Rustic Bull of BW and NM Carag of LSGH already and they have agreed to play in principle. Pag-agreehan pa ang entry fee.
This is for flag and country and for the least of His brothers.

This was originally a goodwill match between MERALCO and Joshua's Brgy Wesley of Chessgames.com, but dahil hinihingi ng pagkakataon, we are turning this into a mini-tourney to help in the training of our RP Para Chess Team coached by GM Joey.

I believe the Barangay Wesley is okay with the proposed tourney format. But since we have more than six players, would you please allow us to have a "reserved player" for each board so we can utilize everyone who wants to participate?

The ASEAN PARALYMPICS-bound RP Para Team, led by partially blind Rudy Canonigo, won all the team matches in this single round 4-team 7-board fund-raising event for the benefit of our handicapped players. Brgy Wesley, MERALCO, & youthful La Salle GH won 1 match each with BW landing on 2nd spot with the best games points at 14.5 powered by Pulsar, Rustic Bull, Jet, & Spawn's 2 points a piece.
Canonigo and Francis Ching scored a perfect 3 out of 3 while Abe Peligro and Alexis Elinon tallied 2.5 a piece, Melchor Pizzaro has 1.5 while Rudy Sarmiento and Gigi Bilog contributed 1 pt each.
GMs Eugene Torre and Joey Antonio graced the simple opening ceremony and give inspirational messages to the plaayers.
La Salle's Rhal Sol Cruz has the best performance among the kids with his 2 wins vs PARA's Pizarro and MERALCO's guest player Catolos.
Final Standings
1st - RP PARA, 14.5 pts
2nd - Brgy WESLEY, 11.5
3rd - MERALCO, 10.0
4th - La Salle, 6.0
