GM Jayson Gonzales vs Edson Gonzales of MERALCO Alabang Business Center. Edson is a very active member and donor of MERALCO Chess Club. He has fully supported and played in MERALCO's outreach games in New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa and Las Pinas City Jail. He also played in MERALCO vs TRANSCO Goodwill Match and in many other events; simul vs NM Vasquez in CRS Sportsfest, simul vs NM Bernardino, and simul vs NM Cabellon.
Finally I met GM Jayson Gonzales !, the namesake of my youngest brother, Jayson Gonzales. My brother is also a chess player and now an Electronics Engr based in Singapore.
I just want to share this story. When we were students at MAPUA, sumali kami sa isang tournament sa GSIS Building near Manila City Hall. E kapangalan siya ng chess master, IM pa lang yata si GM noon, na-ilagay ang brother ko sa board 1. Noong lumaro siya ay nalaman na hindi pala siya yung IM, kaya may naglabasan kinabukasan noon na write-ups tungkol sa namesake ng GM ngayon.
