Rhal Sol Cruz reunited with the members of the Philippine Team that played in the ASEAN Olympiad, namely Shania Mendoza, Daryl Samantila and Felipe Magdalaga. They represented UST College of Engineering and won the title in the 1st UST Kiddies Chess Championship sponsored by the UST alumni of MERALCO.
Sol Cruz finished in a tie for 3rd place with Magdalaga, Mendoza and Michail Alcantara in the individual standings.
And in the special category, the Top Grade School Award, Sol Cruz placed 2nd to Samantila, with Serban placing 3rd.
