Last June 2, 2007, the MERALCO Chess Club, through the efforts of Lilet Bersamina and Romy Aguilar hosted an 18-board simul play with IM Wesley So, the reighning RP Champion for both the Men's and Boys' category. And the young IM breezed through it with an immaculate 18-0 slate despite the presence of MERALCO Champion Albet Casiano of Baliuag Branch, RP/ASEAN Age Group Champions Paulo Bersamina and Joel Pimintel of La Salle, varsity players JC Andan of Ateneo, Ren Santos of UP, Miguel Lahoz and Anjo Nuestro of La Salle and Joseph Bersamina of UE.
